The Basic Approach

Much of this emerges from my teaching of business strategy to MBA students. Because I am convinced that corporate strategy should be developed by the people immersed in the organization, I had a problem. Students can learn principles of strategy by working in teams to analyze existing companies, but they are not insiders. So to get the experience of developing strategy from what they know, I had them apply strategy tools and principles to their lives and careers. I was amazed at how much these things fit. In addition, understanding the nature of personal strategy actually improved their corporate strategy planning.

This blog is an attempt to capture those ideas and emerging synergies between personal and corporate planning and strategy.
